As President, Sara oversees the organization and is charged with scouting and securing venues, scheduling and planning Purple events throughout the year. She also primarily handles the task of coordination and organization of Purple’s volunteer force for all Purple events throughout the year. As an all-volunteer organization, the success of our events is largely due to the work of individuals contributing their time. Sara is responsible to ensuring that events are properly staffed through recruiting, scheduling and communicating with our amazing group of volunteers. Additionally, she acts as a liaison to our local beneficiaries, acting as a vital conduit between them and the board and committee members.
Giving back has been a long-standing value for Sara; she is also involved with the American Cancer Society and St. Baldrick’s, a childhood cancer non-profit. Sara began volunteering for Purple in 2010 because many of her friends were involved. She became an associate board member in 2012 because of her strong belief in the mission of AIDS Services of Dallas and the importance of the organizations and programs Purple Foundation helps support. She is proud of the impact individuals are able to make, no matter the size of the contribution.
A Nebraska native, Sara graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in English and moved to Texas in 1994. She is currently the office manager for a commercial construction firm. Sara is known for being fiercely dedicated to her friends, but also has a passion for reading, television and the trappings of pop culture.
As Vice President, Chris fills many roles with Purple Foundation, including IT manager, graphic designer, event technical production, and e-mail marketer. Chris lends his time and technical savvy by operating and managing the organization’s IT infrastructure, including our website, POS terminals, ticketing systems and lighting/sound/effects/video needs at events. He is also responsible for our graphics and has ushered the evolution of the organization’s branding over time. You’ll also see Chris with camera assisting with event photography.
Chris’s involvement with Purple Foundation goes back to its earliest years when he gave his time as a volunteer. After taking a few years away, he returned in 2010 to offer his technology and design related skills to the growing organization. In 2011, Chris joined the Purple Foundation Board of Directors. Being involved with Purple gives him joy by sharing his expertise to fulfilling a growing desire to give back to the community.
Chris was born and raised in small-town Missouri, He graduated with a BS in Computer Information Systems from Missouri State University. Upon graduating, he moved to Dallas to take his position at AT&T as Senior Data Analyst where he specializes in data warehousing, mining, and analysis. Chris prefers to spend his free time engaging in activities that challenge his brain, a trait that led him to working with computers at the ripe age of seven. He is a classically trained pianist and has recently developed a real love of photography.
Travis is Purple Foundation’s Treasurer and takes the lead on organizing and planning for Purple’s financial matters, insuring we’re able to maximize our impact on our beneficiaries and operational efficiency. Travis manages financial planning, record keeping and reporting.
Travis first attended the Purple Party in 2004 and quickly realized that the party itself is only one facet of Purple Foundation. For the next several years, he supported purple as a financial donor. He started volunteering for Purple in 2009 and joined the Associate Board in 2010. His first tour of AIDS Services of Dallas that year was the eye-opening and emotional experience that solidified his commitment to Purple Foundation’s mission by introducing him to the people who are impacted by Purple’s work and financial support.
Travis grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Arkansas. Travis has a self-described love affair with Broadway. He takes a trip to New York every year to see as many shows as possible, and he is an avid supporter of local theatre, purchasing season tickets to Dallas Summer Musicals and Winspear Opera House every year.
As Development Director, Dylan oversees and manages all relationships and contracts with Purple Foundation’s sponsors and party partners. The support of these individual and corporate partners assists in operational and advertising costs, as well as supplies and other costs, ensuring Purple Foundation is able to give as much as possible to its local beneficiaries. Additionally, Dylan acts as community manager, handling our social media presence.
Dylan has been involved with nonprofits in one form or another since an early age. In Austin, he was active with Austin Men’s Project, a community-building project funded by the AIDS Services of Austin. After attending several Purple events, he began volunteering in 2012 after being encouraged by a friend to become more involved. Dylan became a committee member in 2013 and in 2014 joined the board as the Director of Development.
Dylan was born and raised in Corpus Christi. He earned his BS in Communication Studies from the University of Texas, Austin. Dylan relocated to Dallas in 2004 and is currently the Marketing Manager for a national sports medicine nonprofit association. In his spare time, Dylan loves spending time with his friends-many of whom he met through Purple, catching up on all his television shows and furthering his yoga practice, which he has been studying since 2012.
