Each year Purple Party heats up the dance floor of S4 with its Ignite party, setting the mood and energy of the weekend. This year we are thrilled to have Purple alumni DJs Eddie Martinez and Benson Wilder set Friday night on fire. Plus, singing sensation, Brian Crum will be performing in the Rose Room. Don’t forget those fans, it’s gonna get hot in S4 on Friday!
Eddie’s unique style and his ability to connect with the crowd has allowed him to capture larger audiences everywhere he spins. Equally talented as a producer and DJ, Eddie has remixed tracks for today’s hottest artists including Rihanna, Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Celine Dion. His own original productions—including his two LPs, “Hybrid” and “Foreplay”—have wowed audiences and soared on the charts and in the clubs. Eddie has played for Purple Foundation events twice before and quickly became a favorite.
Inspired by New York’s underground club scene, Eddie began his DJ career at the age of 20. He got his start by playing at lounges and bars across the city, before making his way to Fire Island where his DJ career kicked off, becoming a resident at the famous Pavilion Night Club at the age of 21. Eddie has spun globally in places such as Asia, Brazil, Mexico, South America, Canada, and all around the United States with residencies in several major cities including New York, Miami, and Los Angeles. He has played events such as, NYC Pride, Toronto World Pride, Vancouver Pride, San Francisco Pride, The Black Party, Winter Party, White Party Miami, Purple Party, Revolution Brazil, PAPA Party, and more.
Opening for Eddie is Dallas-based Benson Wilder. He was also introduced to New York’s music and club scene as a teen and has been in the DJ game for over 10 years. His eclectic, energetic sound blends the worlds of circuit, club, and house music, delivering pulsating rhythms, soaring vocals, and flat-out dirty beats. Currently a resident DJ at The Dallas Eagle, where locals flock for his monthly MEAT party, Benson made his Purple debut in 2014 and has played for Purple’s Score and Dallas Pride events; and has also headlined events for Splash Days, Furball NYC, Honey Pot, and others.
Singer and heartthrob, Brian Crum will make his Dallas debut with a special performance in the Rose Room Friday night. Brian sang his way into the hearts of millions after appearing on the 11th season of America’s Got Talent, where he finished fourth. A Broadway –theater –trained performer, Crum’s pop vocals won the judges over and have continued to draw in crowds to his live appearances across the country, especially those supporting the LGBT community.
S4 is the largest gay nightclub in the south. The venue offers a huge dance floor with amazing lighting and sound, a spacious patio for socializing, and the famous drag bar—The Rose Room—which draws crowds from across the city and state. Ignite will light the fire that will keep you dancing all weekend.
DJ Eddie Martinez (NYC)
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Martinez's interest in music started as a young age, as he loved putting sounds together and toying around with different instruments which led him to begin producing music at the early age of 15.
Growing up and Inspired by New York's underground club scene, Martinez began his DJ Career by playing at lounges and bars across New York's thriving nightlife scene. Martinez made his way to one of the east coast's most popular summer destinations Fire Island, where his DJ career really kicked off. Eddie had started a residency at the infamous Pavilion Night Club at the age of 21.
After a successful 3 year residency, Eddie begun a friendship as well as mentorship by Grammy Award Winner Peter Rauhofer and had become a resident dj at his infamous WORK! Parties in NYC. This opened him up to playing at massive major events as well as spinning alongside his mentor Rauhofer. With the success of Martinez's growth this allowed him to became a resident DJ at Rauhofer's infamous WORK Parties.
Since then, Eddie’s eclectic style has allowed him to capture larger audiences everywhere he spins. being able to read the crowd and maintain their attention throughout their experience.
Martinez has spun across the globe in countries such as, Europe, Asia, Brazil, Mexico, South America, Canada and all around the United States with residencies in such major cities as, NYC, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, Dallas, Boston, Seattle, Denver and more.
Playing at major global events such as NYC Pride, Toronto World Pride, Songkran in Thailand, Angels in Zurich, Switzerland, Vita in Tokyo Japan, H.I.M festival in South Korea, Vancouver Pride, San Francisco Pride,The Saint At Large's Black Party, Winter Party, White Party Miami, Purple Party, Cherry Festival, Revolution Brazil, PAPA Party, Supermarxte, WE Party, Bay of Pigs, Gay Days, Ascension & Sandblast.
Eddie's 2014 "Hybrid" LP topped the iTunes electronic chart at #90 out of 200, His Movement podcast reached #1 in 2016 on the progressive house charts and is delivering music that is being played globally as well as topping the house charts on Beatport, with singles like "One Love" & "Believe"
Martinez's 2nd LP "Foreplay" released in 2016 has reached chart toppers around the globe in such countries as Australia & Europe including singles, "I Need U", "Show Me", "The Party!" & more.
Martinez's 2018 single "Something About You" featuring upcoming artist Kaci, has been charting across the globe, in such countries as Australia & Japan.
In 2019 Eddie released his latest 5 track EP "Digital Love" which has reached #1 on Beatport's big room charts and has been sitting in the top 10 across the big room, progressive house & house music charts.
In 2012 Martinez was named the #1 DJ you should know about by OUT Magazine and has been featured in the Huffington Post, EDGE Magazine, Next Magazine, One Way Magazine & Man About World Magazine.

Brian also starred in many successful Broadway shows such as GREASE, Pulitzer Prize winning NEXT TO NORMAL, ALTAR BOYZ and WICKED. He has always been a huge advocate for the LGBT community and consistently strives to do his part in making real change that matters for the larger community, including the "Rest In Pride" campaign to honor Orlando.
